Emerging Technology Brief

One technological advancement that have proven to be highly effective in healthcare is the use of robotics. Robotics are machines designed and engineered to perform automated cognitive and physical functions, and they are used in performing a wide range of activities (Stahl & Coeckelbergh, 2016). In hospitals, they assist in providing quality and safe care, as well as reducing the routine tasks that health practitioners handle in their work environment (Martin, 2016). Most importantly, the use of robots in health centers is significant due to the shortage of personnel. As Stahl and Coeckelbergh (2016) note, one important aspect of providing care is the need to have a safe staff-patient ratio to assist in reducing burnouts and providing personalized care. With the introduction of robots, health personnel are not overworked, and tasks are completed much faster hence reducing congestion in various departments.

Research Paper Help

Different types of robots can be used for different tasks in the health centers. For example, with the introduction of the da Vinci surgical system, surgical processes are done easily, faster, and in a safe manner. Further, since the purpose of health providers is ensuring health, various activities like packaging should be automated to prevent the possibility of increased contamination (Stahl & Coeckelbergh, 2016). For this, some of the robotic technology that can be applied is the use of Cabots; these assist in product packaging and are more preferable since they provide a sterile environment. With such medical processes are not only made safer, but also cost-efficient since it reduces the need for hiring many health providers (Martin, 2016).

Further, to monitor a patient’s vital statistics, robotic medical assistants are placed in different departments to ensure the nurses are notified of any changes in a patient’s room. Unlike focusing on one patient at a time, nurses are able to check on various patients at the same time (Varshney, 2014). In addition to this, the robotic assistants collect patient information and maintain electronic health records. Since the assistants have in different health centers proven effective, one recommendation that can be made is the use of robotic carts to carry food, medicine, and other supplies in hospitals.

Emerging Technology Brief – Robotics

Clearly, the use of robotics in health provision has proven beneficial in varying ways. However, various ethical concerns also arise based on how robots replace labor. In a health care setting, health practitioners are trained to be empathetic and provide warm care (Stahl & Coeckelbergh, 2016). Although robots assist in improving quality and patient safety, they are not emotional and hence, not in a position to provide better care as the one given by human beings. The machines are too mechanical and cannot identify with patient needs and behaviors. Further, compared to human beings, they are not able to reason morally in case of ethical situations and lack autonomy sense (Stahl & Coeckelbergh, 2016). Other ethical issues arise from the objectives of advocating for such technologies in various areas. Although robots improve quality and reduce cost, they are also a challenge since they replace human beings hence reducing employment opportunities (Martin, 2016). Therefore, as organizations enjoy the benefits of such technologies, it is also important to understand the ethical concerns.

The Role of the RN/APRN in Policy Evaluation

Two significant opportunities that RNs and APRNs nurses have to enable them to participate in policy reviews include their capacity to influence health delivery and the professional organizations that they identify with as members (Milstead & Short, 2019). As professionals, nurses contribute towards caregiving for the sick. In this way, they bring into perspective a platform that enables them to care for the patients adequately. Equally, the entry of nurses into areas such as the American Nurses Organization presents a significant opportunity for them realize crucial opportunities in their professional undertaking to enhance policy reviews.

Nursing Paper Help

The opportunities that exist of the nurses may present diverse challenges such as issues pertaining to entry to the professional organizations. The professes of subscribing into those bodies may either be complex or have barriers that make entry difficult especially if the nurses fail to meet the minimum requirements (Shiramizu, Shambaugh, Petrovich, Seto, Ho, Mokuau & Hedges, 2016). Overcoming such a challenge requires the organizations to give clear guidelines on membership criteria. Equally, providing guidance during the registration process would bring many nurses on board. On the other hand, in their capacity to influence health delivery, and ultimately policy reviews, the professionals may lack adequate information to implement the necessary details. Thus, providing the relevant information and making it available for the nurses to use would prove effective in dealing with the impending challenge.

When communicating the opportunities that are available for the professional nurses to enable them adequately participate in policy reviews, the best strategies to implement are timing and leadership (Williams & Anderson, 2018). Through proper timing, it is possible to know when and when not to facilitate those reviews. In this way, it becomes easy to avoid the negative adversities associated with writing timing. Equally, having in place astute leadership would go a long way in facilitating policy reviews. Leadership is an integral ingredient in ensuring that policy review is done accordingly.

What is the greatest challenge or problem for women in the world or in America today? I attached the instructions as well as the research paper. Please let me know if I need to make corrections or if I need to add more info. She wants it on MLA format

First Quarter Research Paper Assignment

English Composition

1.) You will write a research paper on the following topic: What is the greatest challenge or problem for women in the world or in America today?

2.) The first part of the paper will be to give a  background of the issue.   YOU MAY NOT USE WIKIPEDIA.  IF YOU USE GOOGLE, YOU MAY ONLY USE INFORMATION FROM AN ESTABLISHED NEWS SOURCE, LIKE CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX NEWS, MSNBC, OR A NEWSPAPER OR MAGAZINE.  YOU MAY NOT USE BLOGS.  CITE YOUR SOURCES IN THIS PART OF THE PAPER.

3.) The second part of the paper will be to explain why this issue continues to be a problem for women. AGAIN, NO WIKIPEDIA.  IF YOU USE GOOGLE, YOU MAY ONLY USE INFORMATION FROM AN ESTABLISHED NEWS SOURCE, LIKE CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX NEWS, MSNBC, OR A NEWSPAPER OR MAGAZINE.  YOU MAY NOT USE BLOGS.  CITE YOUR SOURCES IN THIS PART OF THE PAPER ALSO.

4.) The third part of your paper will be to explain a possible solution to this problem.

5.) The last part of your paper will be to discuss what your opinion is.   You can take any position across the spectrum.  It doesn’t have to be an extreme position either way.  It can be in a middle ground.  THIS PART OF THE PAPER MUST BE YOUR OWN WRITING.  NO SOURCES HERE.  IT IS ALSO NOT YOUR CONCLUSION.  THE CONCLUSION IS A SEPARATE PART, AND WILL PROBABLY BE ONLY ONE PARAGRAPH.

6.) The hardest part of writing a paper is looking through the sources.  You have to develop your own method.  I used to copy potential quotes into my notebook and later my laptop.  Many people use index cards.  Keep track of where you are getting the quotes because you need to cite them in your paper.  Most databases give you all the information you need for your citation.

7.) It is much better to use books, newspapers, and magazines from the library or our databases.  If you use Google, you may only use information from an established news source, as stated above in boldface.

8.) Your paper must have an introduction in which you introduce all aspects of the

paper.  You must also have a creative, interesting conclusion.

9.) You need at least three sources in total.  The paper should be a minimum of 5 pages, plus a Works Cited page, so the total is really 6 pages.

10.) You must use MLA style. We will go over MLA style in class.

11.) Remember, any idea that is not your own must be cited and listed in the Works Cited      page.

12.) Citations within the text of your paper and the Works Cited page must link up.  I WILL BE LOOKING AT THIS VERY CAREFULLY.  THIS IS THE HEART OF WHAT A RESEARCH PAPER IS.  IF YOUR CITATIONS WITHIN THE TEXT AND THE WORKS CITED PAGE DO NOT LINK UP, THEN YOU REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A RESEARCH PAPER IS.

13.) TRY TO FIND SOURCES WITH AUTHORS.  IF YOU TRULY CANNOT FIND A SOURCE WITH AN AUTHOR, THEN USE THE TITLE.  IF YOUR SOURCE HAS NO TITLE AND NO AUTHOR, IT IS ALMOST CERTAINLY NOT A GOOD SOURCE.

14.) PLAGIARISM – We will discuss this in class, but just in summary – If you plagiarize in your research paper, then you are really intending to cheat and “get one over” on the teacher.  I don’t believe there is such a thing as “unintentional plagiarism.”  This is a research paper.  I know that you are using other sources.  All your teacher wants you to do is cite these sources.  If you leave off the quotation marks and leave off the source, then you are trying to pass off someone else’s writing as your own.

Greatest challenge or problem for women in the world or in America today

In the contemporary world, women are often involved in all parts of the society. However, there are some matters which often affect these women in different magnitude. The challenges ranges from the power for women to vote to reproductive rights as well as yap gap. The consistency of these issues has been addressed in different international platforms to improve the existing challenges that women experience in the world. therefore, it is essential to understand sex trafficking as one of the greatest challenges affecting women in the United States of America.

One of the greatest challenges some women face in the world and in the United States is sex trafficking. Sex trafficking can be described as type of human trafficking which consist of commercial sexual exploitation which takes place in the United States of America and other parts of the world.  Similarly, these activities involve the transportation of people through the means of deception, coercion or even forceful exploitation to other places in the world (Fedina, Celia and Perdue 2360). the people associated with sex trafficking often target women and girls because they are considered to the most vulnerable individuals. Their main in the trade is to obtain wealth and power around the world. as a result, it has been considered to be a big problem for women in the United States and all around the world. substantially this is because they undergo or being drugged, beaten, raped, starved, abused, get sexual transmitted diseases and kidnapped (Fedina, Celia and Perdue 2360). Notably, the background for these victims is that they come from poverty and some girls often escape from their homes to join the activity without intent of knowing what would happen next. In some cases, some women and girls are being sold by their family members into the sex trade business (Fedina, Celia and Perdue 2360). This tradition can be traced from the early slavery trade which took place in Africa where women were caught and being sold to cross through Atlantic to get into the sex trade business. However, it is essential to note that in the U.S. many advocates are trying to end the illegal trade business because many women have become the victim. According to Geoff Rogers, cofounder of the United States Institute Against Human Trafficking, “the United States is the No. 1 consumer of sex worldwide” since the society have become part of the driving force behind its generation (Keiper, Andrew & Perry Chiaramonte, par. 5).

ORDER A PLAGIARISM FREE PAPER HERE

Sex trafficking continues to be a problem with the societies in the global and United States of America due to various measures taken by the involved individuals in the activity. The industry is considered to be a multi-million-dollar business for these involved people. Besides, there returns on the activity has proven to yield more profits than expected ordinary business activities. They are desperate to make money and will do or take any necessary action to achieve their mission (Varma et al. 99). Notably, most of the involved individuals in the sex trafficking are mainly the criminal organizations. The margins for profits are increasingly high for this business. However, despite the involvement of women and girls being trafficked, they don’t make money in this business.  These sex traffickers are evil in regards to their actions since they do not care about the age of girls being used in the trading activity (Varma et al. 103). Many women are victims of this horrific act and it is essential for them to be identified to get support from these criminal gangs misusing their lives.

The traffickers in this business have measures and mechanisms to manipulate the system in their favor. Substantially this is another issue which makes sex trafficking to continue in the contemporary world. further, they know their way into powerful leaders and government officials.  Many sex traffickers are aware of the fact that some women are desperate to make money because their poverty background. Some of the actively involved women would also use or lure other girls to obtain or get favors for nit directly being involved in the activity. As a result, it enables them to continue with the activity in the long run. According to Julie Bindel, “One Albanian woman told me that the only way she could escape her own trafficker after five years in London brothel was to agree to return home and bring back fresh victims. “I had to go to my town and tell the girls there that I knew from school that there were great opportunities in the UK for them, you know, as waitresses and even as dancers,” says Elda” (Bindel par. 8). There are extreme actions which some of these women would use to escape can be harmful when they are caught. There is no win/lose situation for the victim because the trafficker is only thinking about making money. This issue continues to be a problem for women because it’s a multi-billion-dollar industry for the traffickers.

Greatest challenge for women in the world or in America today

The responsible agencies dealing with such cases in the world should develop essential solution to prevent cases of sex trafficking in the world. the concern from the individuals saves from this experience depict hash conditions undergone that needs to be addressed by both the lobbyists and legislatures in most countries in the world (Nichols, and Heil 15). substantially, this is because it is a serious crime and these criminals should be severely punished for life because they are damaging the lives of so many women that are in the industry. There are a few possible solutions that we can prevent sex trafficking in the world.  Learning the indicators of human trafficking is one of the potential measures which needs to be put into consideration. There are different parties who should participate to ensure these indicators are determined accordingly (Nichols, and Heil 15). These may consist of law enforcement agencies, educators, federal workers as well as the entire society suspicious of these activities around their neighborhood. The need to promote education regarding this issue should be the primary focus to detect the possibility of the matter. Nonetheless, the collaboration of these parties would be useful to successfully improve the concern of preventing sex trafficking.Greatest challenge for women in the world or in America today

The establishment of promotional programs within the society is the way to prevent sex trafficking claims.  The benefit of this is to involve people in the communities’ help stop this crime faster. Having more advertisement and also donating to anti-trafficking organizations will push more people to help around the world. We can spread awareness in areas that we feel that sex-trafficking is being targeted the most. The other measure to the solution is to take action on colleges, schools and other institutions to establish awareness campaign on human trafficking which leads to sex trafficking among women and girls (Bryant et al. 19). The involvement of College students will make a difference for young women because people will take them seriously to fight this crime. Once students get involve many parents and family members want to participate in helping the community. Even celebrities can get involve since many people look up to them as role model. Some women are lure into thinking they going to work as models or make a lot of money working for a good company (Bindel par. 12).  The promise given to most young innocent girls deceived for sex trafficking is mainly jobs which would sustain their families. The feeling to know that some people are being used and sold like products is not ethically correct. Therefore, developing these initiatives needs to be implemented to minimize or prevent the situation completely within the society. The U.S need to have more advertising on sex trafficking and they need to educate our children in school districts and at job sites as well (Keiper & Chiaramonte par. 9). Just like we have Amber Alerts we need to have alerts traffickers because this demand is becoming increasing high. The government needs to make this their top priority to stop sex trafficking all around the world

Sex trafficking is not an ethical activity because it violates human rights in the world. Therefore, I feel sex trafficking is a crime and holding someone against their own will is ethically wrong. People should be allowed or given the freedom to do their activities at will or have sex at will. I feel we should all come as a whole and be better advocates of sex trafficking. The media needs to get more involve and we need to have sex trafficking awareness in every community (Bryant et al. 18). The media should hold interviews with woman that have escaped the industry and talk to schools’ officials about how they can help and become more involve. I feel the government should also get involve and reach out to small or big businesses on how they can help to spread the word. There should also be classes taught in all school districts on how to avoid a trafficker if students come in contact with a trafficker. These classes would be helpful to many young students (Bryant et al. 19). We also need to talk to the victims and ask them if they would be interested talking to students in schools’ districts about their experience and alarm them of the red flags when being approach from a sex trafficker

Greatest challenge for women in the world or in America today

The government should provide more employment opportunities to people so that sex trafficking can be minimized in the long run. There are measures which needs to be put into consideration to prevent cases of sex trafficking of women and young girls. The first step is to look at social media and determine ways to stop cases of human trafficking (Bryant et al. 19). The involved criminals should be investigated by the relevant agencies in the world such as the FBI across the world. developing programs which can undercover these operations should be implemented and approved by the government agencies and authorities to help the affected individuals (Nichols, and Heil 15). We should also put our focus on the victim health conditions too because they will need psychological help. These women will need years of intensive treatment to recover from their pain. It’s important that we make sure the victims mental health is not causing them any harm. Experts need to make sure that the women affected by this crime have a normal life as much as possible because the goal is to make them feel protected. It’s a shame to think that human trafficking is considered to be the modern-day slave trade. This problem is so big all across the world and the United States. The government needs to illegalize this crime because this is forced labor. Not much have been done to end this horrific act. No woman or girl should ever be kidnapped from any part of the world to make money. It is an inhumane act and I believe in we should respect our rights in every aspect of our lives. I believe together we can fight sex trafficking and help the victims that are being dragged into this industry. If we can sign into our social media account every day, we should have a page dedicated on social media on women or girls that have been kidnapped (Nichols & Heil 15). Then we should send alerts on our phones to friends and family members to remind them that this industry must end and to help find the victims. Hearing it on the news or just talking about it every now and then is not good enough to spread the word. Not everyone is paying as much attention but uniting a whole will make a difference to end this heinous act. The government needs to protect our citizens and crack down on those involve in this crime.

I have attached the peer posts below that need to be responded too.

Alittle Background:

It is important for health care leaders to be aware of industry trends and best practices that might impact their organizations. By strategically implementing these trends and best practices, organizations can improve patient health outcomes and remain competitive within the industry. For this Discussion, you examine the trends and best practices hospitals implement for organizational excellence, information technology, and informatics.

Response 1

Hi Latisa,

I enjoyed reading your post. The use of information technology has revolutionized the healthcare sector. IT has helped the healthcare sector to ensure quality healthcare delivery, increased patient safety, decreased medical errors as well as strengthening the interactions of between healthcare providers as well as between healthcare providers and patients. In addition, IT has enabled the development of system for healthcare record that is reliable and affordable which is paramount for quality healthcare delivery. The use of information technology in the healthcare sector has improved the quality of healthcare that is delivered by providing accurate patient records and allows doctors to better understand the patient’s medical history. Having a comprehensive patient history empowers doctors to more accurately treat ailments (Campione, Mardon & McDonald, 2018). Without the use of technology that keeps medical records, physicians would depend on the patient’s memory, which can lead to inaccurate medical history.

Response 2

Hi Tyler,

I agree with you that Mayo Clinic has been able to incorporated operational excellence in its culture. By doing so, the hospital is able to identify problems in its systems and processes, and encourage and empower its staff to develop and implement solutions that address the root causes of the problems. This kind of system helps in ensuring continuous improvement within the hospital. In addition, technology’s role in the hospital has expanded exponentially due to technological advancements. The hospitals are now able to store, share and analyze health information by the use of technology. The use of technology increases provider capabilities and patient access while improving the quality of life the patients (Marcotte et al, 2015). Nowadays, physicians are able to help patients remotely and accurately diagnose a patient’s problems through telemedicine. Thus, technology has greatly to impacted the healthcare industry and the society as a whole.

Latisa McConico,

According to the 2019 U.S. News & World Report, the NYU Langone Hospital in New York, NY is ranked No. 9 on the Best Hospital Honor Roll. The facility ranks #14 in adult specialties and rated high performing in 1 adult specialty and 9 procedures and conditions. The NYU Langone Hospital is a general medical and surgical facility. NYU Langone Medical Center’s main facility in Manhattan is Tisch Hospital. Tisch hospital, formerly named University Hospital , was established in 1963 at its current site (U.S. News, 2019).

The hospital was founded in 1882 as New York Postgraduate Hospital and merged with New York University Medical Center in 1948 (U.S. News, 2019). NYU Langone Health has received the global Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Enterprise Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence for healthcare technology innovations that improve patient outcomes. NYU views technology as a critical element in connecting their patients and providers, and transforming care (NYU Langone, 2017).

Health IT has been foundational to their organizational success as they were the first and only health system in the state of New York to achieve inpatient and outpatient “Stage 7” electronic medical record adoption status recognized by HIMSS Analytics, which represents the highest level of electronic health record implementation and data analytics to improve care, as measured by the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model. Clinical, IT, and operational leaders from NYU Longone presented case studies demonstrating the institution’s strategic use of health IT to improve patient outcomes. The organization showcased the value-based management (VBM) program, paperless registration, and the Total Joint Replacement Bundled Payment Care Initiative which uses IT systems to help in coordinating a patient’s care before, after, and during elective surgery to replace knee and hip joints (NYU Langone, 2017).

Tyler Hill,

The number one hospital from the “best hospital report” is Mayo Clinic based in Rochester, Minnesota.  Mayo clinic owns 19 hospitals  with 57 research centers.  The variety of this health care organization leads this facility to be considered the best hospital report.  In order to be ranked as best hospital, the organization must be excelling in care for the sickest patients and must be skilled for inpatient care (Mayo Clinic, 2019).  Also, death rates provide a ranking and gives insights to potential patients.  Being a best hospital does not mean that it excels in all other services provided.  Some hospitals have higher ranking in other specialties versus other hospitals

ORDER A PLAGIARISM FREE PAPER HERE

The Mayo Clinic does well with within their financial report.  In 2018, the total current assets were 2,427 and total current liabilities in 2,281 in millions (Mayo Clinic, 2018).  This constitute as a best hospital as well because there are more assets than liabilities, which allows money to provide services and equipment for the patients without being in debt.  There are certain  trends to become the best practice hospital, which is to implement operational excellence, information technology and health care informatics.  The implementation  of health information technology improves the quality of health care, prevents medical errors and reduce health care cost (Shahi, Sadoughi & Ahmadi, 2015).  This improves the operations of health care because it cuts out a lot of middle man activity and allows patients to connect with physicians online.  Operational excellence is only implemented gradually and starts by addressing staff practices and analyzing leadership behaviors (Bach, 2017).  Healthcare informatics informs the facility of their numbers and what they should improve on. Taking a gradual action to these three practices will assist the hospital with becoming ranked for the best hospital reports.

Group Psychotherapy is concerned with various strategies that are used in helping individuals have a safe and trustworthy forum where they would interact with each other and help each other. The group session as made up of people who were battling addiction with a majority of them having an alcohol addiction.

Research Paper Help

Description of the Clients

One of the group members was known as Mr. JJ, a 34-year-old man who experiences insomnia. History reveals that he is very worried that he may end up losing his job and he is also unable to control the worry. The worry makes him experience challenges sleeping and therefore he would take alcohol so that he can sleep. He, therefore, began by consuming alcohol as a self-cure for insomnia but he became dependent.

The second client is Mr. Q and he is a 36-year old man who has been experiencing challenges in his marriage for a long time. He describes his wife as nagging and always complaining about the things that he cannot do for her. This makes him prefer to drown his sorrows in alcohol so that he can forget about the treatment at home. He does not want to divorce his wife because his parents had a divorce and it negatively affected him.

Diagnosis

Mr. JJ needs a dual diagnosis because he presents mental issues, i.e. depression and anxiety, in addition to alcohol use and therefore has a co-occurring disorder. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), (2013), the diagnostic criterion for insomnia is where there are complains that the patient is not satisfied with the quantity of sleep that they get or the quality. At the same time, Khurshid (2018) establishes that depression can present as insomnia and hence Mr. JJ was screened for depression. People with mental issues tend to take alcohol because of its stimulating effect so that it can help them sleep (Jacobson and Newman, 2014). Mr. Q is diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder because of the stress that he receives at home which makes him want to be away. According to the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, (2013), post-traumatic stress disorder is said to be present when the patient has experienced an actual exposure to a stressful event. In his case, the trauma is from the divorce that the parents had.

In-session procedures:

For this people Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) will be employed and it involves activities that will aim at exploring the negative thoughts that an individual has and replaces them with thoughts that are positive and that will play a role in creating favorable behaviors and emotions ( Patterson, 2014). Cognitive-behavioral therapy would be effective for the treatment of addiction because it is instrumental in helping them to find the relationship between their actions, thoughts and feelings and how they impact recovery. This is because CBT is based on the idea that the feelings, as well as the behaviors of an individual, are caused by their thoughts. Therefore, while they may not be able to change their circumstances they should be able to change their thoughts about them. The expected outcome is that there will be skills learned on how to cope with the issues that they go through. They will, therefore, not need to use alcohol as a coping mechanism.

Homework:

  1. To talk with the spouses about the issues that they think they can change
  2. Be more open and spend time at home
  3. Appreciate the spouses more and try to make time to do the things they all used to love

Other comments:

Legal and ethical issues have been considered.

An ethical requirement for both clients is to ensure that they sign an informed consent form. This means that they will have made an informed decision to be part of the psychotherapy group. It also confirms that their participation is voluntary and rational. This is also important because it helps them to have an increased sense of ownership over the process.

The ethical issue will involve giving both of them a safe and confidential opportunity to express his concerns, fears, and issues. Privacy and confidentiality will be ensured as this is an ethical requirement for psychotherapists. As a result, everything that is discussed will be kept secret and will not be disseminated to any other person

Group Therapy Documentation

Introduction

Research in healthcare depicts that the interconnections among family members are a major factor in drug use disorders and their therapies. Psychotherapists tend to agree that interactions within families can affect their emotional health. Therefore, they may fail to control the advancement of substance abuse disorders (Cazzell & Anderson, 2016). However, it is also essential to understand that environmental and other contextual issues may contribute to the use of substance by teenagers (Arcangelo et al., 2017). The paper documents a group therapy session involving two teenagers.

Group Session Documentation

James reveals that he has an addiction for tobacco smoking. His engagement with cigarettes started three years ago and he is finding it difficult to quit. He reveals that his father is a smoker, a thing that influenced him to start smoking. He also shows that his addiction has affected his cognitive activities to the extent that his academic performances have dropped. In addition, James reveals that his social life has also been affected by his habits. He recalls that most of the time, he wants to stay alone. This act helps him to smoke without disturbance.

Anthony, on the other hand, depicts that he is fond of marijuana. His medical history reveals that he grew up as a healthy child. He was also brought up in a well-off family. However, his engagement with friends from his neighborhood got him addicted to smoking marijuana. He reveals that he started the habit as way to belong in the group.  The act has made it difficult to relate with his family. Both James and Anthony reveal that they want to quit their substance abuse habits. They show willingness to change as they have realized the challenges the drugs get them through. They both reveal an intention to lead a normal teenage life, where they can engage in normal activities like other people.

Clients’ Description

James Jackson is a 16-year-old boy Caucasian boy. He lives with his parents and has a younger brother. His parents are engineers by profession and they spend most of the time away from the family. James reveals that watching his father’s smoking habits made him a smoker. James reveals that his family was well-off. This feature made it easier for him to get money for buying cigarettes at any time.

Anthony Jimenez is a 15-year-old Hispanic boy with persisting marijuana smoking habit. He lives with his parents and has two siblings; a younger sister and an older brother. Being a second-born child, he reveals that his parents were not strict to him as they were to his brother. The client reveals that his freedom led to his smoking habits when he developed a close relationship with children from his neighborhood. He is determined to quit marijuana as he feels it may ruin his youthful years.

Clients’ Diagnosis

The subjective information for James reveals that he has a persistent smoking habit. He takes large amounts of tobacco and wants to quit without success. He also has cravings for the drug. This shows that he has a substance-abuse disorder. Anthony’s smoking habit has brought him poor association with people around him.  The act has made his academic performance to drop. Despite his urge to stop, he is unable to quit the problem He is also diagnosed of substance-abuse disorder (Groenman, Janssen, & Oosterlaan, 2017).

Legal and Ethical Implications

Since the clients are minors, it is prudent to attain approval of consent from the parents. Moreover, it is essential for the practitioner not disclose the information provided by the clients during a private session. It is also ethical to report to the parents any issue that may cause harm to the clients. The client also needs to only use an evidence-based framework to enhance better outcomes (Fulton, 2016).

SAMPLE ANSWER

Trump has gone off a narcissistic cliff. Does anything matter anymore?

In the recent past, one does not need to be professional in mental health to recognize that something is off with the 45th and current president of the United States of America, Donald Trump. I agree that Trump has gone off a narcissistic cliff. There has been no president in history that has been established to have shown an excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and their physical appearance. Trump, on the other hand, has prompted several discussions regarding his mental stability and connection with reality based on the excessive need for admiration, being arrogant and disregarding others. Also, he has exhibited an outright inability to effectively handle criticism making him expose his sense of entitlement.

ORDER A PLAGIARISM FREE PAPER HERE

The issue of white nationalism in America is a serious one and requires to be addressed by the president, who is instead choosing to be egocentric and make everything to be about his life instead of handling the issue. In a world where so many items need to be addressed, trump should not be spending so much time being concerned about personal grievances on social media as well as mainstream media. An example of the things that Trump has devoted time to is to tweet about conspiracy theories and in the process, he ignores serious issues such as the three mass shootings that took place in one week. It is for these issues that other people find him mentally unstable. An example is John Kelly who referred to him as “off the rails” and “unhinged” referring to his state of imbalance. We have reached a point where no one knows what to expect from Trump anymore. He seems to change based on his moods from one minute to another as influenced by either headline on the news or even Tweeter. Nothing matters anymore.

Nursing Paper Help

The Primary Appeal used in the Article

The primary appeal that is used by the author is pathos, which seeks to bring about the emotional appeal and persuade an audience to feel what the author wants. The author of this text wants the audience to feel how mentally unstable the president has become and is consequently providing examples to show how he is becoming Narcissistic. The author writes that “With America facing a rising tide of white nationalism and a world on fire, we have a leader who is dangerously unfit, makes everything about him.” In doing so, he attempts to make the audience understand how inefficient the president is and especially the fact that he has become egocentric and not showing active efforts towards handling the issues that the country is facing. The title of the article also prompts one to acknowledge the fact that nothing matters to the president anymore.

Critical Review of Mrs. J.’s Nursing Intervention

Critical Review of Mrs. J.’s Nursing Intervention

Health History and Medical Information

Health History

Mrs. J. is a 63-year-old married woman who has a history of hypertension, chronic heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Despite requiring 2L of oxygen/nasal cannula at home during activity, she continues to smoke two packs of cigarettes a day and has done so for 40 years. Three days ago, she had sudden onset of flu-like symptoms including fever, productive cough, nausea, and malaise. Over the past 3 days, she has been unable to perform ADLs and has required assistance in walking short distances. She has not taken her antihypertensive medications or medications to control her heart failure for 3 days. Today, she has been admitted to the hospital ICU with acute decompensated heart failure and acute exacerbation of COPD.

Subjective Data

  1. Is very anxious and asks whether she is going to die.
  2. Denies pain but says she feels like she cannot get enough air.
  3. Says her heart feels like it is “running away.”
  4. Reports that she is exhausted and cannot eat or drink by herself.

Objective Data

  1. Height 175 cm; Weight 95.5kg.
  2. Vital signs: T 37.6C, HR 118 and irregular, RR 34, BP 90/58.
  3. Cardiovascular: Distant S1, S2, S3 present; PMI at sixth ICS and faint: all peripheral pulses are 1+; bilateral jugular vein distention; initial cardiac monitoring indicates a ventricular rate of 132 and atrial fibrillation.
  4. Respiratory: Pulmonary crackles; decreased breath sounds right lower lobe; coughing frothy blood-tinged sputum; SpO2 82%.
  5. Gastrointestinal: BS present: hepatomegaly 4cm below costal margin.

Intervention

The following medications administered through drug therapy control her symptoms:

  1. IV furosemide (Lasix)
  2. Enalapril (Vasotec)
  3. Metoprolol (Lopressor)
  4. IV morphine sulphate (Morphine)
  5. Inhaled short-acting bronchodilator (ProAir HFA)
  6. Inhaled corticosteroid (Flovent HFA)
  7. Oxygen delivered at 2L/ NC

Critical Thinking Essay

In 750-1,000 words, critically evaluate Mrs. J.’s situation. Include the following:

  1. Describe the clinical manifestations present in Mrs. J.
  2. Discuss whether the nursing interventions at the time of her admissions were appropriate for Mrs. J. and explain the rationale for each of the medications listed.
  3. Describe four cardiovascular conditions that may lead to heart failure and what can be done in the form of medical/nursing interventions to prevent the development of heart failure in each condition.
  4. Taking into consideration the fact that most mature adults take at least six prescription medications, discuss four nursing interventions that can help prevent problems caused by multiple drug interactions in older patients. Provide a rationale for each of the interventions you recommend.
  5. Provide a health promotion and restoration teaching plan for Mrs. J., including multidisciplinary resources for rehabilitation and any modifications that may be needed. Explain how the rehabilitation resources and modifications will assist the patients’ transition to independence.
  6. Describe a method for providing education for Mrs. J. regarding medications that need to be maintained to prevent future hospital admission. Provide rationale.
  7. Outline COPD triggers that can increase exacerbation frequency, resulting in return visits. Considering Mrs. J.’s current and long-term tobacco use, discuss what options for smoking cessation should be offered.

You are required to cite to a minimum of two sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and relevant to nursing practice.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Critical Review of Mrs. J.’s Nursing Intervention

Introduction

In healthcare, critical thinking involves an intellectual process of synthesizing, analyzing, reasoning, and reflecting as guidance towards decision making. This process is essential as it helps practitioners to develop accurate and relevant decisions in difficult scenarios. The paper uses critical thinking to analyze a situation involving a 63 year old patient by the name Mrs. J. She has a health history of cardiovascular diseases and portrays symptoms of heart failure.

Clinical Manifestations

The subjective data reveals that the patient is anxious about her condition. Also, she does not feel pain and has a running heart. She feels exhausted and is unable to drink by herself. This data aligns with the practitioner’s findings about the disease. For instance, the objective data shows irregular heart rate. From another perspective, respiratory problems caused by pulmonary crackle may lead to complications.

Critical Review of Mrs. J.’s Nursing Intervention

Appropriateness of the Interventions

During admission, a patient with heart failure needs to undergo proper assessment. Other important symptoms need to be evaluated. The practitioner needs to increase the patient’s oxygen availability. Application of diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and beta blockers is essential in the control of the disease. In the scenario, the treatment upon admission includes the above measures. Therefore, it can be observed to be appropriate (Komajda et al., 2016).

Rationale for the Medication

IV furosemide is a diuretic. The drug is used to control overflow of fluid. It is also used to minimize heart workload, thereby reducing ventricular filling pressure and improvement in a patient’s condition. Enalapril is an ACE inhibitor. In the scenario, the drug is provided for vascular dilation, which results in improved blood flow and oxygenation of blood to the heart. It is also used to improve heart, kidney and nerve functioning in patients with diabetes type 1. Metrolol is a beta blocker which is applied in reducing a patient’s heart rate (Komajda et al., 2016).

ORDER A PLAGIARISM FREE PAPER HERE

Morphine sulphate is an analgesic that is used for treating pain. It is also essential in improving vasodilation and relaxing the respiratory system. Inhaled short-acting bronchodilator is used for treatment of lung conditions and controlling effects of respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Inhaled corticosteroid is used for controlling respiratory conditions such as asthma. Lastly oxygen treatment is used to improve oxygen availability (Komajda et al., 2016).

Conditions Leading to Heart Failure

Arteriosclerosis: This condition involves hardening and narrowing of a body’s blood vessels. It is usually caused by conditions such as diabetes, smoking, and diet high in cholesterol. The condition can lead to poor blood flow to one’s heart, thereby overworking the heart. This feature may cause heart failure. Reduction of cholesterol intake and management of weight can reduce risk of attaining heart failure. Sleep apnea is a condition that involves breathing pauses during one’s sleep. Its obstructive version is associated with obesity Severe sleep apnea may lead to cardiovascular problems such as heart failure.  Sleep apnea can be controlled by being more active (Prabhakaran, Jeemon, & Roy, 2016).

Research Paper Help

Hypertension is a condition where an individual experiences high blood pressure. It leads to increased risk of heart diseases due to increased pressure against the walls heading to the heart. This disease can be controlled by engaging in exercises and reducing weight. Coronary artery disease is a condition which entails formation of plaque inside an individual’s coronary arteries. The condition limits the blood flow to the heart. This condition can be controlled by engaging in exercises and reducing salt intake (Prabhakaran, Jeemon, & Roy, 2016).

Interventions in Multiple Drug Interactions

To eliminate issues caused by drug-drug interactions, a practitioner needs to review, the types of medications taken by the patient. By considering factors such as frequency, dosage, and reason for intake, a practitioner develops a proper way to control challenges caused by the interactions. Moreover, the practitioner may need to maintain an effective communication to ensure that the patient takes the right level of dosage. In addition, the practitioner may offer a warning to the patient to use the drug according to the recommendations. Creating a medication plan is also important. This strategy ensures that the drugs are kept in a safe place (Komajda et al., 2016).

Critical Review of Mrs. J.’s Nursing Intervention

Health Promotion Plan

Self-care education will be suitable in providing knowledge for the patient in both pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures. The plan needs to provide information on early planning of the hospital leave, reinforcement, improvement, and analysis of self-care abilities. Weight monitoring devices, medication monitoring devices will be essential in guiding the patient to get an effective control of her condition (Pandey et al., 2017).

Educational Method

When educating the patient, Abraham Marslow’s ABC’s theory would be applied. This method is essential in helping the patient group her needs depending on the necessity. For instance, teaching about self-care will focus much on taking medication more than engaging in exercise. The main objective of this approach is to ensure that the patient has an effective way of controlling the problem (Pandey et al., 2017).

COPD Risk and Management
