The people that sue the pathos appeal seek to offer a convincing argument to the audience and this is achieved by creating an emotional response to a plea or a story. In this case, the audience is being convinced about the moral standings of each part of the debate side. Each side seeks to bring out ideas or pleas so that they can be seen to be better than the opponents.
Why do you believe that appeal was used most?
I believe that the appeal is used most because they all want to prove that they have a better moral standing as compared to the opponents. In doing so, they aim at bringing out their points to prove that they have been designed with the utmost good of the larger population in mind. The conservatives and the liberals seek to establish the meaning of morality by explaining what morality is to them. The liberals believe that morality is anchored on caring and looking after the disadvantaged people in society as well as ensuring justice, fairness, and generosity. Conservatives believe that morality is brought about by fairness, respect for leadership as well as an individual sense of responsibility and patriotism.
