Team Peace:
Team Peace works together and encourages each member of the team to be a part of the discussion, this demonstrates that they value other professions and show mutual respect towards each other while working together towards a common goal. They have a clear vision to value of creativity, efficiency, collaboration, and accountability. With a shared vision of excellence, they work together seamlessly and continuously refine their approach to find the best solutions. This team reviews patient feedback, thorough data analysis, examining current wait times, and current processes. This team helps their leader determine what information is important and helps the leader to make decisions. Team Peace has clear expectations, communications, and shared goal. They show characteristics of a high performing team by including each member of the team to deliver strategic decision making (Broome & Marshall, 2022). The leader demonstrates shared leadership engaging each member in the decision-making process (Broome & Marshall, 2022).
Team Tranquil
This team has a set plan in place and sticks to the meeting agenda each meeting, there is not much discussion from the other team members during these meetings so other individual’s opinions and point of views are not seen prior to voting on solutions showing that they might not be open to others’ ideas and point of views. This team is focused on a quick solution but creating a quick solution does not always been the solution is sustainable and will last. This team is reviewing patient wait times and satisfaction but is not looking at the entire picture of the problem in place. This leader shows more autocratic leadership, making the decisions prior to every meeting about exactly what is being discussed, limiting team member conversations and ideas.
Recommendations
To make a team effective it is important to involve all members of the team, value everyone’s opinions, ideas and see things from others point of view. In healthcare it is essential to see things from other interdisciplinary team members point of view. Another important factor is that it is essential to take more information than you think you need, in this case study Team Peace takes patient surveys, data analysis, examining current wait times, and current processes all into consideration when working to create a change. This team is focused on changing things for the better with common goals, which is essential. Whereas Team Tranquil has a goal of creating a quick solution. Changes in large systems like a hospital take time and need to be done correctly and take multiple point of views and data into consideration. I do not think that the solutions that Team Tranquil will be sustainable and long-lasting.
