FIRST ARTICLE YOU RESPOND TO.. U.S. News, staff writer shared a story in relations to the mismatch between education and marketable skills that needs to be addressed to empower the workforce of tomorrow. As technology continues to expand towards artificial intelligence and automation, the skill set to meet the demands are not there. The workforce is not in alignment with the jobs of the future, as labor jobs are being downsized for automation to take over in some fields. Where are the employees to help man the machinery behind artificial intelligence? The challenges companies are facing shows how necessary it is for changes in how society needs to move forward with this issue. There is a hodgepodge of talent available for the next generation workforce. â€œThe focus of government, the curriculum of colleges, and the hiring and training practices of the private sector have simply not kept paceâ€, stated by Eric Gertler, executive chairman of U.S. News and World Report. The remedy to this mismatch begins with collaboration between educational institutions and the private sector (Hansen, 2019).
This article and the content in it can be related to diversity. As the focus must be placed on skills and not pedigree, resumes or educational background. If this approach is received, accepted and implemented employers can find better matches for their needs, wherein they can diversify their recruiting pools. 2ND ARTICLE YOU RESPOND TO… I chose is one I heard about a while ago about a scientist who genetically modified a pair of twin baby girls to develop an HIV resistant gene. One of the biggest worries at the time was that if one could begin to selectively modify their children and essentially design them. That one day, you could go to a doctor and tell them you wanted your child to have blonde hair blue eyes and certain features of your face. That in and of itself is pretty revolting. That parents might design their offspring like they would a custom cabinet promotes more of the anti-natural culture that is developing through recreational Botox and other body editing processes. One day parents who wouldn’t be able to afford the procedure might get children with ‘defects’ and culturally see this as a liability to them and treat the child accordingly. We’ve seen this historically with mixed race children during the birth of America. White slave masters hating their illegitimate offspring from slaves they’ve raped. If gene modification were to become a cultural norm, imagine what type of racist damage that could do to make perfectly white children. That of course is only one example of the damage projection, but it leaves an impression.
