Week-3-DQ-1-Response-to-fellow-classmate-Elaine-Finley-statistics-homework-help

Inferential statistics are primarily used to make general assumptions about the population from results of sample data(Devore, 2011). Researchers attempt to use the data from a sample to generalize about the population the sample came from (Devore, 2011). For example, in a sample study of 100, 65 selected vanilla ice cream. Researchers can then infer that over 50% of the population will select vanilla ice cream or ask a research question about the sample population to generalize about the population.

For my topic, I could use inferential statistics to determine the perceived level of influence top leaders have on power distance and Individualism-collectivism. Leaders in a MLM organization have power yet the authority to act on the power is little to nothing since MLM’s have no traditional or set power structure (Tyre, 2016). In addition, the culture of MLM’s can be both collective and individualistic simultaneously. Using a likert scale, for example, leaders or new distributors can answer questions about their perceptions on power distance and individualism-collectivism. Based on the sample data, I could infer perceptions about the population of leaders in the MLM organization. Perhaps top leaders have more power influence than perceived. Perhaps new distributors perceive that the individualistic culture needs more collective influence. While my study is focused on leadership down, there are many implications for both quantitative and qualitative studies within the MLM industry.
