The National Emergency at the Border
Before reading this discussion topic and the link provided, I was unaware of President Trumps reasoning for declaring a national emergency at the southern border. I was always annoyed because it seems as though he just does not consider other nations or respects the rights of other humans that are non-American.
However, according to the link provided, President Trump states, “In particular, recent years have seen sharp increases in the number of family units entering and seeking entry to the United States and an inability to provide detention space for many of these aliens while their removal proceedings are pending. If not detained, such aliens are often released into the country and are often difficult to remove from the United States because they fail to appear for hearings, do not comply with orders of removal, or are otherwise difficult to locate.â€
In my opinion, I agree with his reasonings. The influx of families at the border has created the need for massive amounts of resources. On a side note, I think we should be funding their resources to handle the issue.
Still, often times, we are quick to judge without research (especially me, I can admit right now) but our checks and balances system and separation of powers were made to deter this exact so-called corruption or one sidedness going on right now. All members in each branch should be able to come together and collectively settle on an agreement to best handle the situation, where no one power oversteps the other.
Yet, the current House of Representatives are openly opposed to the President on a majority of subjects. There is no collective collaboration. I can also say openly, the reasonings I provided above are barely ever circulated on media platforms as much as subjective opinions that fuel rage into populations across the country.
While both parties have their reasonings, I think its blasphemous for the President to go against our doctrine the same way that I feel like it is blasphemous of the opposition to throw out/advertise subjective material more than the reasonings behind the Presidents move. I am baffled to say the least and desire for our governmental system to be great again.
