Social Media in Your Agency
As the public information officer (PIO) for your local emergency medical services (EMS) agency, you have been asked by your chief administrator to research the legal and regulatory aspects for creating a social media policy and to prepare a report.
Part 1: Start by researching the legal and regulatory standards for a social media policy, and write a one-page summary of your findings. As part of your summary, include how following the legal and regulatory standards can help create a positive image of the organization. Include a minimum of two sources within your summary.
Part 2: Then, write a social media policy for your agency. Your policy should include the following elements:
- legal standards,
- guidelines or best practices,
- examples of acceptable versus unacceptable practices, and
- consequences for inappropriate social media use.

Your completed assignment (summary and policy) must be a minimum of three pages in length, not counting the title and references pages. You must use a minimum of two outside sources within Part 1 of this assignment. All sources used, including the textbook, must be cited and referenced according to APA standards. The policy does not require outside sources. All work must be original to the student. Do not copy and paste a policy from another organization.
